One morning before kindergarten, when she was just four years old, Lottie told her mum she wasn’t a boy.
Lottie was born anatomically male, and had been raised as a boy, with a boy’s name.
But from the age of three, Lottie had gravitated towards toys and clothes that are traditionally seen as feminine.
That morning before kinder, Lottie told her mum Karen she wasn’t a boy, but a girl. A four year old, transgender girl.
We trace Lottie’s battle to be accepted as a girl, and the challenges she and her family faced along the way.
